7 Best Foods for Gut Health (That I Actually Eat)
Gut health might not be the trendiest thing to talk about — but it’s honestly one of the biggest things I’ve worked on to feel better from the inside out.
Your gut doesn’t just affect digestion… it impacts your energy, your skin, your mood, your immune system — all of it. When it’s off, you feel it. And when you start supporting it? You feel that, too.
Here are 7 foods I keep coming back to that are simple, gut-friendly, and actually doable in real life:
1. Yogurt with live cultures
The label should say "live & active cultures" — that means it’s rich in probiotics like lactobacillus that help feed the good bacteria in your gut.
2. Kefir
Think drinkable yogurt, but even more powerful. It’s loaded with probiotics and super easy to pour into a smoothie or drink on its own.
3. Kimchi & sauerkraut
These fermented veggies are amazing for microbiome diversity — just start with a spoonful on the side of lunch or dinner.
4. Garlic & onions
They’re prebiotic foods, which means they feed the good bacteria you already have in your gut.
5. Bananas — especially the green ones
Underripe bananas have resistant starch, which acts like fiber and supports digestion and good gut bacteria.
6. Oats
Oats are gentle, high in fiber, and help keep things moving. They also feed the friendly bacteria in your gut.
7. Bone broth
Warm, cozy, and packed with amino acids that help heal and support your gut lining.
You don’t have to be perfect or eat all of these at once — just start adding a few when you can.
It’s the little choices that really start to shift how you feel.
